350.org is looking for a Social Media and Digital Content Manager to manage 350 Germany’s key digital channels during the launch of our new region-wide campaign and produce creative and engaging outputs, to increase the reach and impact of our digital communications in Germany.

This is a consulting/contractor role lasting 3 months (3 June to 30 August 2024) and will work closely with our teams in Germany and Europe. We are expecting this role to spend 3-4 days a week (negotiable) on this short-term project. It is a remote position.

350.org is building a global grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis. Our online campaigns, grassroots organizing, and mass public actions are led from the bottom up by thousands of volunteer organizers in over 188 countries. 350.org works hard to organize in a new way—everywhere at once, using online tools to facilitate strategic offline action. We want to be a laboratory for the best ways to strengthen the climate movement and catalyse transformation around the world.

Summary:

Are you experienced in producing creative and engaging content for social justice causes? Do you have strong digital skills and the ability to manage content across social media channels (Insta, Facebook, Tiktok) in both German and English? 

Objectives and key deliverables:

The person will be responsible for the following: 

  • Support the launch of 350’s new campaign in Europe, through implementation of its digital strategy in Germany, working closely with the rest of the Germany team and with 350 Europe’s digital specialists.
  • Produce regular engaging outputs for the social media accounts of 350.org Deutschland, including 3 TikTok videos, from July to August.   
  • Monitor engagement across channels, give recommendations and identify emerging trends to engage with. 
  • Support with email writing and other digital content production (blogs, webpages) as needed, as well as occasional light support for traditional media communications (press releases, media outreach).
  • Monitor news and political developments and supporting development of rapid response digital outputs post EU-election, around the Bretton Woods Anniversary, G20 Finance Ministerial Meeting and climate impacts.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience managing social media channels and creating digital content for Instagram, TikTok and other social media platforms. 
  • Ability to produce high quality online content and resources for specific target audiences.
  • Basic video and graphics production and editing skills (eg. using Canva). 
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan and deliver high-quality work within tight timeframes and a limited budget.
  • Fluent in German, and comfortable working in English.

Desired (but not required) Skills and Experiences:

  • Strong interest in climate justice issues (at a local or national level).
  • Experience working with environmental / economic / social justice movements in Germany.
  • Experience of mobilising people to take part in a particular campaign or event.
  • Familiarity with some or all of the digital tools used by 350.org (e.g. Canva, ActionKit,, Wordpress, NewMode, Twitter, Instagram). Experience with setting up ads for Facebook and Instagram would also be very beneficial. 
  • Experience of working in a geographically dispersed team, including working with teams in other countries on cross-regional or global campaigns.

Service Environment: Remote, with option to work from an office in Berlin. 

Consultancy fee: daily rate between 250-400 EUR, based on experience and suitability.
