The opportunity: 

The Senior Manager of Global Network Infrastructure will oversee Flexport’s growing global warehouse and office IT network infrastructure. This role will lead a team of internal and contingent resources across different geographies and time zones. The services under the responsibility of this role are critical to Flexport’s core business (warehouses) and for the delivery of employee-facing IT services across our offices. You will manage/oversee the architecture of infrastructure for warehouse and office build-outs, infrastructure upgrades, and day-to-day operations. This leadership position requires a deep understanding of network architecture, infrastructure management, and a/v communication technologies to ensure the organization's smooth and efficient operations. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Information Technology.

You will:

  • Network Infrastructure Management:
    • Manage the design, installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of network connectivity and equipment for new and existing warehouse and office sites globally.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to network infrastructure management in a 24x7 global environment.
    • Proactively identify and develop solutions to remediate issues.
    • Own the architecture, planning, configuration, and implementation of networking and A/V infrastructure.
    • Identify and measure critical operational metrics.
    • Report on infrastructure performance and availability.
    • Infrastructure capacity planning.
    • Expect to travel to global sites to support office infrastructure builds and maintenance
    • Develop and implement strategic plans for the organization's network infrastructure to support current and future business needs.
    • Drive a high-level of automation and configuration management across devices and systems.
    • Own A/V equipment and services across office and warehouse locations.
    • Work with vendors to evaluate and select appropriate A/V solutions that meet the organization's needs.
    • Ensure seamless integration between A/V systems and other IT infrastructure components and core services.
    • Develop and enforce policies for A/V usage to promote productivity and maintain security.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor a team of network infrastructure and a/v communications engineers and experts.
    • Provide guidance and training to team members, fostering their professional growth and technical expertise.
    • Manage projects,  tasks and monitor progress/performance to ensure the team meets objectives and deadlines.
    • Collaborate with HR to recruit and select new team members as needed.
  • Budget and Resource Management:
    • Develop, own and manage annual IT budget related to the global network and a/v infrastructure.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize resource allocation to maximize efficiency.
    • Work closely with other departments to align IT initiatives with overall business objectives.
  • Compliance and Documentation:
    • Ensure the organization's network infrastructure follows any compliance certifications. 
    • Support ongoing audits and remediate any control deficiencies and/or gaps.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, infrastructure components, and unified communications systems.

You should have:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience (typically 8+ years) in network architecture, infrastructure management, and unified communications.
  • Previous experience in a managerial or leadership role, overseeing a team of IT professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, hardware, and security best practices.
  • Expertise in unified communications technologies such as VoIP, video conferencing, and messaging systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, Azure) and hybrid network environments.
  • Knowledge of supporting Palo Alto Networks, Juniper infrastructure and wireless networks in an enterprise environment. Familiarity with supporting Ruckus systems is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
  • A "compliance first" attitude to keep our regulators happy and enthusiastic about Flexport since we operate in a heavily regulated industry.

The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range displayed, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and / or training.
The US base salary range for this position: (exclusive of bonus, equity and benefits.)
$120,000$210,000 USD
