About The Role

As the Vice President of Business Development you’ll join the team transforming the Commercial function at Syapse, driving significant growth of revenue and the business. You’ll leverage your extensive network in Life Sciences to take off from day one conducting end-to-end business development, from ground level prospecting through outreach, proposal development, pricing, and contracting. Utilizing your domain expertise and leveraging our unique blend of deep Community Health Systems data, molecular lab data, and comprehensive understanding of the cancer patient journey you’ll guide strategic discussions with future partners and deliver consistent commercial success for the business. 

Like all positions at Syapse, this position is located remotely, but this role will require moderate travel to client sites, conferences, events, etc….

What You’ll Accomplish  

  • Exceed revenue goals by landing and growing new accounts
  • Own and execute the entire sales process from prospecting through close
  • Develop strategic account plans with detailed analysis of customers, their pipeline, mapping out our offerings to their products, key stakeholders maps, and effective short and long-term strategies for expanding the account
  • Become a subject matter expert on Syapse’s capabilities and offerings and how they interact with industry trends and competitive landscape 
  • Create layered relationships with our clients, building multiple champions across medical, scientific, IT, commercial, and procurement teams
  • Drive proposal development internally and externally, leveraging Syapse’s wealth of internal expertise
  • Lead outreach to key customers to build and grow relationships and identify opportunities for new and recurring business
  • Support efficient contract negotiations to close business.

 

About You

  • Been there, succeeded  at that. You have 8+ years of highly relevant experience and demonstrable high dollar figure, repeated, and recent success selling analytics services or similarly complex engagements to large and mid-sized pharmaceutical companies. 
  • Significant scientific acumen. You can connect the dots between our client’s scientific needs and the relevant solutions and offerings. You don’t need to have a Ph.D., but you should be able to converse in depth with someone who does. 
  • No such thing as, “not my job.”  You’re a dive in head first, own the end-to-end, energetic, entrepreneurial, and default to do vs. delegate go getter. You bring that highly self-driven, creative problem-solver attitude with a sense of urgency to everything you do.
  • Own  The Room.  Whether in writing, on video, or in person you blend executive presence and presentation skills with a credibility that gains the trust of scientific clients

Prior experience in the following are highly desired:

  • Life Sciences Consulting
  • Epidemiology or Real World Data research
  • Clinical Oncology

 

Compensation: 

The target base salary for this position is $200,000 to $250,000 + Commission. 

This base salary is only a part of a total compensation package for this position that includes: a generous performance driven incentive program, benefits, 401k with match, flexible PTO and incentive pay for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range as a number of factors including market forces, experience, location, disparities in market data and other relevant business considerations may  all factor into final compensation.
