Divea's main goal is to expand Humanity's technology tree by developing value-added products for society based on graphene membranes. In particular our goal is the research, development and large-scale production of nanopores in a monatomic layer of graphene for gas separation, particularly for capturing CO2 from industrial emissions.

We don't care where you studied or which diploma you have, we are looking for problem-solvers who get things done with a high sense of urgency. If you want to build  products that are added value to society, this is the place for you. We are looking for proof of exceptional abilities and high motivation.

As a Material Chemist, you will be getting your hands dirty in our lab to go through all the different synthesis steps for transforming graphene into a membrane for gas separation. You will be working on the scale-up and optimisation of these steps for large-area membranes. Most of these steps are being developed from scratch by our team and require a critical thinking and a first-principle approach.

For the more traditional description:

What you will be doing

  • Performing different synthesis steps for transforming graphene into a membrane for gas separation
  • Optimising and developing news ways of performing these synthesis steps
  • Prepare solutions by weighing ingredients and dissolving and diluting substances
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative experiments taking into account the volume and structure of ingredients
  • Spin-coating polymeric solutions on top of 2D materials
  • Electrochemical bubbling to transfer 2D materials from one surface to another
  • Operate ovens to heat treat samples
  • Assemble simple membrane layers inside the membrane module
  • Testing the performance of the membranes in gas permeation setups
  • Write technical reports of the test results
  • Maintain lab equipments and troubleshoot or report on malfunctions
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory health and safety guidelines

Basic Qualifications

  • Background in Chemistry, Material Science or relevant engineering/science discipline
  • Compliance with Laboratory health and safety

Ways to stand out from the crowd

  • Experience in working in a chemistry/materials laboratory
  • Experience with membranes and gas separation
  • Operation and simple modification of gas permeation setups
  • Experience in working with 2D materials, especially graphene
  • Knowledge of Raman spectroscopy and SEM
  • Hands-on experience with preparation and handling of polymeric and inorganic solutions
  • Spincoating, electrochemical bubbling, operating ovens

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends, necessary to support critical milestones

Your level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at Divea. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
