Job Description:
FirstPrinciples is seeking a dynamic and creative Marketing and Communications Manager to lead our efforts in raising awareness, engaging stakeholders, and showcasing the impact of our foundation's work. The Marketing and Communications Manager will report to the Director of Operations and work closely with the Founder and Research Director to develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy for FirstPrinciples.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Communication: 

  • Develop and implement a strategic communication plan that aligns with FirstPrinciples' mission and goals. 
  • Create and execute messaging strategies to effectively highlight the foundation's initiatives, research outcomes, and impact.

Content Creation: 

  • Produce high-quality content, including articles, press releases, blog posts, videos (short form and long form), infographics, podcasts, and social media updates.
  • Translate complex scientific concepts into engaging formats to connect with our audience and convey complex scientific concepts in an accessible manner.
  • Experiment with various media channels to popularize theoretical physics research and the foundation's efforts.

Media Relations: 

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets, science journalists, and influencers to secure coverage of our research projects and initiatives.
  • Prepare and train spokespersons for media interviews and public appearances.

Digital Presence: 

  • Manage and enhance the foundation's digital presence, including the website and social media platforms. 
  • Implement SEO strategies to increase online visibility and foster an active online community.
  • Run paid advertising campaigns to promote the foundation and its research areas, optimizing for maximum impact.

Brand Management: 

  • Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communication channels.
  • Maintain and evolve the foundation's visual identity, including logo, design, and style guidelines.
  • Develop and execute initiatives to increase brand awareness.

Stakeholder Engagement: 

  • Collaborate with external partners, researchers, and the scientific community to strengthen FirstPrinciples' global presence and impact. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors and funding partners.

Event Management: 

  • Plan and execute events, webinars, and conferences to promote FirstPrinciples' mission and research findings. 
  • Coordinate logistics, manage invitations, and oversee event branding and marketing.

Analytics and Reporting: 

  • Track and analyze the impact of communication efforts, using metrics and analytics tools. 
  • Prepare regular actionable reports to evaluate and refine the effectiveness of communication strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience in marketing and communications, preferably in the non-profit or scientific research sector.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex scientific concepts for a broader audience.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing, social media management, and content creation.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Passion for advancing knowledge in theoretical physics and a commitment to the foundation's mission.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of a growing organization.
  • Flexibility to travel as required for the role.
