The Engineering Manager will join the Acquia office in Pune as the senior staff member. The office will be comprised of Professional Services, Operations and Support staff. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Engineering Manager will recruit a high performing team in accordance with Acquia’s growth strategy. The team will collaborate closely with staff in Boston so flexibility in working hours is important. Once the team has been recruited, the Engineering Manager will lead and manage the team, including ongoing career development and performance oversight.

  • Removing impediments that block or slow down the development team 
  • Ensuring that the right roles are filled by the right people

Skills: 

  • Strong technical background ideally having worked as a tech lead or equivalent 
  • Extensive hands-on development knowledge on modern development platforms, Cloud based solutioning (AWS preferred) 
  • Passionate about people and people management 
  • Experience with project management and process improvements
  • Uncompromising focus on excellence 
  • Empathetic towards customers and all the roles required to build a successful product 
  • Biased towards action and practical solutions 
  • Inquisitive and has a knack for seeking out truth 
  • Equally comfortable managing up as they are managing down 
  • Understanding of the Symfony framework would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive and self-motivated attitude
  • Experience with MySQL projects
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and experience with containerization technologies, especially Kubernetes, is a plus.
  • Experience  in PHP programming and object-oriented design principles, with a track record of working on  scalable web applications.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • At least 8 years of total experience with 2+ years managing software engineering teams 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Has navigated teams through adverse situations, either successfully or unsuccessfully 
  • Well versed in modern development techniques and automated testing strategies 

Extra Credit: 

  • Trained in Agile methodologies, preferably Scrum 
  • Working knowledge of Amazon Web Services 
  • Well versed in JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience working with Mautic
