Overview

Alarm.com is seeking a technically skilled Director of Website Operations to lead the next phase of our website operations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record designing, implementing, and managing scalable, dynamic, and world-class websites. They should be adept at SEO, CSS, and HTML coding, and be well-versed in the latest content management systems such as Drupal, WordPress, and Craft. This role involves managing the work of a team of web developers and web designers while coordinating across teams and business units. Leadership skills are paramount.

Key Responsibilities

  • Spearhead the development and execution of a strategic web presence plan, collaborating cross-functionally to assure website alignment with business objectives, content, and brand.
  • Lead and manage the work of the web operations team, including web developers, web designers, and content managers.
  • Design the website's content experience, crafting and implementing a comprehensive strategy that ensures SEO-optimized, accessible, and brand-aligned content, while collaborating with internal stakeholders and maintaining a robust quality assurance and maintenance process.
  • Ensure the website is optimized for search engines, aiming to improve visibility and organic traffic.
  • Oversee all daily website operations to drive optimal website performance and user experience through continuous monitoring, advanced analytics, and proactive action on traffic, load times, and engagement data.
  • Implement innovative web technologies and design principles to foster an engaging and intuitive user experience.
  • Use web analytics tools to track and analyze website performance and user behavior, using this data to inform strategic decisions and improvements.
  • Collaborate with web developers and IT teams to handle technical aspects of the website, such as server management, code deployment, and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Develop and manage robust security protocols for the website.
  • Monitor and adapt to legal and regulatory changes, ensuring adherence to ADA standards, privacy laws, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Streamline content updates across databases and servers while meticulously planning and coordinating these updates with marketing, sales, and customer service.
  • Integrate AI and other advanced technologies, enhancing website functionalities for greater user engagement.
  • Collaborate on innovative digital projects, leveraging the latest technologies to expand and elevate the organization's digital presence and capabilities.
  • Create thorough documentation in Confluence.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, with extensive experience in website operations, content management systems, and SEO. They should also have a good understanding of web design and development principles and be able to lead projects effectively. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines is essential.

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, or other relevant field. Master’s degree or MBA a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in web operations, web development, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience in a leadership role, managing teams and projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of website infrastructure, website development, performance optimization, SEO, and security.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
