Software Engineer II

As a Software Engineer II on our emPower Automated Testing team, you'll have the opportunity to leverage your expertise in software development, to work across a variety of technical areas, with a focus on improving our automated testing capabilities. This is not a Quality Assurance (QA) role but rather a software engineering role with a focus in the testing realm. You'll collaborate closely with stakeholders across different departments to understand their needs and requirements, ensuring that our solutions exceed expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop full stack software for a wide variety of platforms and technologies.
  • Engage in the research, evaluation, and application of new technologies, with a focus on test tools, methodologies, and trends, to solve challenging problems.
  • Design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot automated suites of tests
  • Work with the engineering team to derive testing requirements, resolve issues for systems, and offer inputs on the testability of functional elements of our various types of hardware.
  • Work closely with software and quality engineers to create software artifacts including test plans, test cases, test procedures and test reports.
  • Frequently work with hardware test setup and debugging
  • Take part in the entire project life cycle, from requirements development to deployment.
  • Work hard and be flexible: we have quick development cycles, evolving requirements, and lots of cross-team collaboration.
  • Exercise good judgment. Know when to work quickly, and when to build a robust solution.
  • Bring your ideas! We want our test engineers to collaborate and have ownership of the automated testing processes we deliver.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of professional software development experience
  • Strong object-oriented programming skills; C# a plus
  • Knowledge of test methodologies and their corresponding tools
  • Experience with test processes, test frameworks, and test design strategies
  • Experience with tools and applications such as JIRA, Confluence, and BitBucket are a plus
  • Passion for testing, development, and design
