We are building a category-defining product in 2024 and beyond, and are looking for a highly motivated Product Marketing Manager to help bring it to market to drive growth. Reporting to the Product Marketing Lead, you will work very closely with our Design and Engineering teams to bring new features to market in ways that showcase Dovetail’s differentiation and market leadership. From launch management and content creation to cross-functional collaboration and go-to-market planning, you thrive in both tactical and strategic settings and have a strong track record that will help you deliver results that bring our product strategy to life in the minds of our customers.

What you'll do

  • Develop a deep understanding of our market and customer. We are a customer-obsessed team, but you will take this to an entirely new level of understanding. You will define customer personas, prioritize their biggest challenges, define segments, understand purchasing behavior, and research competing offerings. The team will look to you as the voice of the customer and the market we serve.
  • Refine our messaging and positioning. We have ambitious goals of creating a new category of software that helps researchers and their teams develop a new level of customer understanding. You will have a say in how we position the product in market, define our value proposition, and the language we use in marketing material, within the product, and in internal discussions.
  • Support product launches. Our product team moves fast so we constantly have exciting new features to share with our customers. You will lead our efforts in developing differentiated positioning, defining the go-to-market plan, as well as creating supporting materials (e.g. blog posts, email newsletters, demo videos, enablement content, social and community posts, etc.). You also know that a product launch is just the beginning and will support the continued adoption of features as our team improves them.
  • Partner with our technical teams. Be a close partner with our design and engineering teams. You'll contribute to our product strategy, how we prioritize features, and be a constant advocate for our customers. You will understand our funnel better than anyone and drive decisions for new features and products that align with our vision.
  • Drive cross-functional strategic projects. You will lead and drive cross-functional strategic projects. You'll influence and bring together the team, collaborating with others to translate strategic opportunities into deliverable projects. You will measure and report on the business impact of such projects.
  • Execute in the face of ambiguity. We are moving fast and defining an entirely new category of software, which means we are faced with plenty of uncertainty and ambiguity. It is critical that you are able to balance strategic thinking with rapid execution. You believe in constant progress over perfection.

Your background

  • Experience in product marketing, product management, customer success, or SaaS sales. You have several years of experience in a customer-centric role. You have experience supporting products and features, at any point of the product development journey, from ideation to launch to adoption.
  • Experience working with product teams. We expect you to jump right in and collaborate with our designers and engineers. You have experience working cross-functionally and learned useful lessons on how to work effectively as a part of a team.
  • Clear communicator & excellent writer. We expect you to take big, ambitious ideas and distill them down into concise, exciting talking points. You have experience bringing the voice of the customer to an entire team and get buy-in on your ideas and strategies. You are comfortable writing informative but persuasive content that connects with customers and communities
  • Pragmatism. We're looking for someone who can wear multiple hats across the entire lifecycle of product exploration, launch and adoption. You are willing to get into the details to ensure consistent messaging for our customers across all touch points.
  • Attention to detail. One of our values is “if we do it, we nail it.” You have a high-quality bar and strive to maintain an excellent level of detail and consistency across all content you create.
  • A great attitude. The right attitude towards a sense of urgency, risk, and uncertainty about the future that comes with working at an early-stage startup. This is an opportunity to be involved in an exciting journey from the very start.
