THE OPPORTUNITY: Logistics Operations Manager

REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Operations

LOCATION: US, Hybrid

We are seeking an experienced Logistics Operations Manager to own and manage all aspects of logistics operations (inbound freight, outbound transportation, and return logistics). This role will be responsible for end-to-end logistics & transportation execution, ensuring  transit time & cost optimization goals are met, and collaborating cross-functionally with all Birdy Grey teams when it comes to Logistics & Transportation. We’re looking for a highly analytical executor and a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in international & domestic freight, small parcel shipping and a passion for evolving efficient processes. 

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage freight forwarders and coordinate with finished goods manufacturers, vendors, and 3PL
  • Responsible for end-to-end supplier to 3PL inbound logistics workflow including ASN creation & correction (when needed)
  • Manage outbound shipping carriers (international and domestic) & bulk shipment logistics (recycle, donation…etc)
  • Manage our reverse logistics partner to ensure our return volume is processed within our SLA
  • Lead exception and risk management efforts for transportation incidents, ensuring minimal disruption
  • Collaborate with Fulfillment Operations team to ensure inbound shipments are received within SLA, and outbound shipments are delivered to customers within promised time frames
  • Collaborate with Tech Team (Ops) on shipping related implementation to ensure system routing is correct
  • Continuous efforts on service and cost evaluation and further extract value from our freight forwarders & shipping carriers
  • Produce and distribute key benchmark reports on carriage, shipping, reverse logistics, costing reports, including exception management, troubleshooting and resolving issues

THE RIGHT CANDIDATE: QUALIFICATIONS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required

EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of logistics/transportation experience ideally in DTC or eCommerce
  • Experience with large data sets and complex Excel spreadsheets with significant detail
  • Knowledge of ERP, Excel, Business Intelligence platforms, and any other relevant Supply Chain / Logistics Tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills; capable of building relationships with many internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Someone who feels a tremendous sense of responsibility and commitment in getting projects across the finish line – on-time, on-quality, on-budget, all while enabling project participants to be effective and motivated
  • Hard working and willing to roll sleeves up - no job is too big or too small
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit. You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, fluid environment. You are comfortable with ambiguity and take initiative to lead projects
  • Resourceful and scrappy - can figure out solutions to novel problems independently
  • Proactive problem solver, able to troubleshoot and/or escalate issues effectively
