The majority of the assets are managed on behalf of the Open Society Foundations (OSF), which was founded by George Soros and is one of the largest charitable foundations in the world. SFM has approximately 200 employees and is headquartered in New York with offices in London, Dublin, and Hong Kong. The majority of the assets are managed internally, and SFM can invest globally in a wide range of investment strategies and asset classes, including equities, credit, fixed income, macro, and private equity.

Major Responsibilities

  •  Assist other members of the investment team in evaluating investment opportunities across the capital structure, including distressed credit/special situations/equities
  • Focus industry coverage on TMT, Consumer and Gaming/Leisure/Lodging, among others
  •  Conduct independent research, valuation, and industry analyses
  • Create and maintain detailed corporate financial and asset-based cash flow models
  • Assist in managing and performing surveillance on existing investments, including: updating models, valuation analytics, and risk reports
  • Interacting with internal and external subject matter experts

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with an exceptional track record; focus of finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, or related field
  • At least 3 years of experience working in the finance industry, preferably investment banking or buy-side credit/distressed experience with a strong demonstrated interest in investing across the capital structure including high yield and distressed credit/special situations/equities
  • Ability to independently conduct comprehensive research, identify and assess key issues, and    summarize results
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Bloomberg Analytics
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Able to work in a high pressure, fast paced environment, and can manage multiple projects simultaneously and expeditiously
  • Able to take direction and show initiative as appropriate

Anticipated Salary Range

We anticipate the base salary for this role will be in the range of $150,000 to $185,000.

In addition to a base salary, the successful candidate will also be eligible to receive a discretionary year-end bonus, as well as other benefits.
