Job Description

The Clinical IT Analyst (Level I) serves as a vital link between the hospital clinical departments and Information Technology. The primary role of the Clinical IT Analyst (Level I) is to ensure that the electronic health record (EHR) system operates effectively and efficiently, and that it supports clinical processes and workflows. The Clinical IT Analyst (Level I) will be responsible for the analysis and support of clinical information systems to enhance the delivery of patient care. The Clinical IT Analyst (Level I) works alongside other Clinical IT Analysts to produce quality results.


Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between clinical staff, IT personnel, and other stakeholders to ensure the EHR system meets the clinical needs of the healthcare institution.
  • Analyze clinical processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization of the EHR and other clinical applications.
  • Participate in the implementation and ongoing maintenance of clinical information systems.
  • Configure and customize the EHR and other clinical software to meet the specific needs of the healthcare institution, including the creation of templates, order sets, and clinical decision support tools.
  • Assist with the development and enforcement of policies and procedures related to the use of clinical information systems.
  • Provide training and support to clinical staff in the use of the EHR and other clinical applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to clinical software applications, working collaboratively with IT support teams as needed.
  • Participate in quality assurance and testing of clinical systems before implementation to ensure accuracy and functionality.
  • Collect and analyze data from the clinical information systems to support quality improvement initiatives and reporting requirements.
  • Stay current with trends and advancements in clinical informatics, EHR systems, and healthcare regulations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support patient safety, regulatory compliance, and the achievement of healthcare outcomes.
  • Provide regular updates to the HIT Director about the status of information system projects and ongoing support activities.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology with a focus on healthcare, or related field
  • Clinical experience in a healthcare setting is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of EHR systems and clinical informatics principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in healthcare data standards such as HL7, ICD10, CPT.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation standards related to electronic health records and patient privacy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work within cross functional teams.


Work Environment

  • Office environment within a healthcare environment.
  • May require occasional travel to managed hospitals, clinics and LTC facilities.
  • Requires sitting and working at a computer for extended periods.
  • May involve periods of standing or walking when working with clinical staff or observing workflows.

Compensation:

Pay rates start at $31.25/hr up to $37.01/hr and vary by experience and location.

  • Pay increase depends on acquisition of certificates. Technicians are expected to take the company sponsored certification at least once every six months upon hiring.
  • (Example certifications: CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft MCDST or MCP.)
