The Lightcast platform allows precise and highly flexible independent control of thousands of microdroplets independently and in parallel using software-generated light patterns. By combining droplets containing different cells, antibodies, cancer drugs, reporters and /or other reagents we can perform complex workflows and assays with a flexibility far beyond what is currently possible on any cell analysis platform. 

About the role

A key member of the Lightcast team, you will lead the team providing IT support to a growing company of over 100 staff. You will be working with a variety of technologies, helping plan the company’s IT infrastructure strategy and improving current processes, as well as supporting other members of the team in the provision of front-line support.

Key aspects of the role include: 

  • Management and maintenance of internal IT infrastructure. Including Servers, Hardware, Virtual Environment, VLAN, LAN & WAN, Storage and Telecoms 
  • Design, installation, upgrading, operation, control and maintenance of Windows and Linux server systems, network, and desktop infrastructures, covering two sites (Cambridge and Boston, USA) 
  • Ensuring the availability of all relevant systems, through the implementation and management of maintenance, monitoring and change control strategies 
  • Specification and ordering of equipment, software, and services, plus ensuring maintenance contracts are in place 
  • Maintaining up to date and effective documentation on all relevant IT systems, services, and procedures 
  • Managing user accounts and access levels 
  • Development and control of the IT security policy and associated policies 
  • Ensuring security on all systems and legal requirements are met 
  • Assisting in the management and responsibility for company data ensuring that all backup and restore procedures are adhered to and effective 
  • Building and maintaining relationships with External and Internal contacts 
  • Assisting in the planning, development, documentation and testing of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plan, processes, and procedures 

Required Skills: 

  • Detailed working knowledge of Microsoft server environments 
  • Good working knowledge of Linux server environments 
  • Detailed working knowledge of local and wide area networking, including VLAN, and associated technologies, e.g. switches, routers, firewalls, VPN’s etc 
  • Good understanding of storage environments and configuration, e.g. Synology NAS 
  • Good understanding of Virtualisation technologies, with hands on experience of Hyper-V 
  • Good understanding of network/domain security principles 

Additional Desirable Skills: 

  • Good understanding of cloud infrastructure for software hosting and systems backup 
  • Experience of enterprise tooling such as Teams / Jira / Confluence / SharePoint 
  • Knowledge of DevOps systems (TeamCity / Jenkins) and principles (Continuous build and release) 

The role offers a competitive salary between £48,000-55,000 per annum depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits including:
