Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Distribution to join our team.   This highly valued position has been created to elevate and streamline our distribution process, optimizing the value that can be created through this critical function.  This role will be responsible for the distribution process across multiple product lines under the DuraPlas umbrella.

The ideal background for this role will include experience in both a large company and a small to mid-size company, as well as experience building highly efficient distribution processes from the ground up.  The ideal profile of the Distribution leader is: 1) someone who enjoys building and designing, 2) a subject matter expert in manufacturing distribution process flow and warehouse design, and 3) a persuasive and credible leader. 

This position will oversee all warehouse operations including management of the warehouse and light manufacturing teams. Additionally, this person will be interacting with leadership on a daily basis.  We are looking for someone who will relentlessly dig into how things have been done and seek opportunities to improve operational efficiencies while honoring brand standards and developing trusted partnerships with our internal team and suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Implement a fully functional supply chain management/distribution control infrastructure.
  • Direct and implement the operational strategy, business processes, and systems for overall distribution operations, including order fulfillment, warehousing, inventory management, and transportation between our three buildings.
  • Establish measurement metrics and set performance targets for all distribution-related functions that align with company objectives and are within regulatory guidelines, and monitor and report on metrics and costs.
  • Implement data-driven analytical tools and systems to continuously monitor operations, identify inefficiencies, and develop optimization strategies.
  • Create functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develop budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.
  • Manage inventory and establish procedures to ensure we are always ready to meet customer needs.
  • Develop relationships with vendors to secure the best and most effective long-term solutions and minimize issues with quality and service while also minimizing costs.
  • Ensure all operations adhere to industry safety protocols and comply with OSHA, DOT, or other governmental regulations.
  • Be a positive brand ambassador of our family of brands both inside and outside the company by exemplifying integrity, entrepreneurship, and admirable character.

 

Education & Experience

  • 7+ years of distribution experience in an environment that includes manufacturing, warehouse, and distribution
  • Bachelors degree in business, supply chain, industrial distribution, logistics, or a related field is a plus
  • Experience with multiple facilities, shipping, logistics and inventory in a complex system
  • Experience designing and building best-in-class distribution capabilities
  • Experience in implementing and optimizing ERP/Warehouse Shipment tools and modules
  • Career experience in both a large company (Fortune 500, for example) and in a small to mid-size company (such as a family-owned or founder-led company)
  • Experience interfacing directly with leadership and participating in cross-functional teams
  • Experience that demonstrates the ability to be a motivational leader who inspires team members to perform at their highest potential
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus

 

Skills & Character Traits

  • Knowledge of ERP systems (BC, SAP, NAV, Oracle, etc.)
  • Knowledge of storage and transportation
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Tech savvy; able to learn and optimize the use of various technologies (ex: Excel, Access, data lake systems), as well as build models and create reporting

  • Willing and able to travel 5-10% of the time
